The dengue patients admitted in hospitals in Uttarakhand are not native to the State. According to the State Health Department, those undergoing treatment for dengue in hospitals located in Uttarakhand are from neighbouring States. Although the patients are coming from the neighbouring States, the State health department has issued a dengue alert in the State.

Since dengue fever is caused by a virus, there is no specific medicine or antibiotic to treat it and for typical dengue fever, the treatment is purely concerned with relief of the symptoms.
He told that the prevention of dengue fever requires control or eradication of the mosquitoes carrying the virus that causes dengue. He told that the pathological investigations are the only way to confirm the dengue fever among the suspected cases.
One of the department sources who wished anonymity told The Pioneer that the chief medical officers of all the 13 districts of the state and medical officer in-charges of the community health centres, primary health centres, first referral units and health centres have been already told to report to health directorate if they found any suspected and confirmed dengue cases.
He informed that the department concerned has been asked on regular intervals to do fogging in the affected areas to prevent spreading disease to healthy individual. He cleared that strict departmental action would be surely taken against those medicos if they are found lethargic while providing medical relief to patients.
