The Uttarakhand High court has issued stay orders on the proposed plan of transport department to grant the permit of stage carriage to the Vikrams and Tata magic operators.
The HC issued the stay orders while hearing the petition of a city bus owner Prashant Dobhal on Tuesday. The officials of Transport department had proposed to bring a resolution to grant stage permit to Vikrams in the meeting of Regional Transport Authority (RTA) which is scheduled on Wednesday. The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Dinesh Chandra Pathoi confirmed that the proposed plan is listed for the RTA meeting. The HC however stayed the proposal and asked the transport department to explain the reason for the proposal of stage permit to the Vikrams in the next hearing of the case which is slated on September 11. The President of City bus Union Vijay Vardhan Dandriyal told The Pioneer that the HC vindicated the stand of the city bus operators on the issue. He said that the action of transport department officers raise suspicion and reeks of corruption.
Dandriyal said that the Vikrams and Tata Magic which are plying in the city are running on the contract carriage permit which means that they should not pick individual costumers on routes. He claimed that Vikrams do not fulfill the norms of stage carriage and any effort to provide them permit of stage carriage would be strongly resisted.
