The court has rejected the bail plea of the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) supervisor Amit Kumar and assistant engineer TP Nautiyal who have been languishing in jail since being named in a bribery case.
It will be recalled that MDDA supervisor Amit Kumar was arrested by vigilance while accepting Rs one lakh in bribe from the complainant lakshmichand on February 3. In course of interrogation, accused Amit Kumar had told the police that he had accepted the bribe at the behest of Nautiyal.
The Vigilance team had arrested Nautiyal from Nayagaon in Jhajhra area of Dehradun on February 16.
Moreover, to evade police arrest, Nautiyal had earlier moved the Uttarakhand High Court. However, the court had rejected his petition.
Notably, lakshmichand had said that he had visited the MDDA office many times to present relevant documents related to a complaint lodged by one of his neighbours.
He was told there that he would have to bribe them to have a favourable case report out. The complainant was told that the bribe would be accepted by either the assistant engineer or the supervisor, as per the written complaint.
