HC orders stay on sanitation workers commission case

Published on:

After quashing the earlier order of the State Government annulling the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee executive, the High Court of Uttarakhand has ordered a stay on the Government order regarding the removal of office bearers of the State sanitation workers commission.

According to the case details, the Vice Chairman of the State sanitation workers commission, Santosh Gaurav had filed a petition in the High Court of Uttarakhand in Nainital.

In his petition, Gaurav had challenged the order of the State Government regarding removal of the appointees in various councils, corporations and the sanitation workers commission from their posts. The petitioner had stated in his petition in the High Court that the State sanitation workers commission is a constitutional body which has a regular term of three years.

The commission had not yet completed the three years of its term, said Gaurav in his petition.

He further stated that the Government newly elected in the State had dissolved the commission and remove the office bearers which was an unconstitutional move.

The High Court’s single bench comprising Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia heard the case before ordering a stay on the Government order in question.

It is also pertinent to mention here that Kiran Pal is the head of the state sanitation workers commission whereas AK Sikander and Santosh Gaurav are the vice chairmen of this commission.
