The high court has directed that an investigation be carried out by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the Anchal Pandhi alleged murder case of Dehradun. According to case details, Dehradun resident Anil Kohli, the father of Anchal filed a petition in the high court stating that last year he had filed an FIR against her husband Rahul Pandhi, mother in-law and two sisters of Rahul, accusing them of murdering his daughter. After investigation, the police filed a chargesheet under IPC section 306 (abetment of suicide) instead of section 302 (murder). When the petitioner wrote to the home secretary, the probe was handed over to CBCID but even then satisfactory action was not taken. After hearing the sides, the single bench of justice lok Pal Singh directed a CBI probe in the case. The petitioner had stated that his daughter was murdered though the crime scene was fabricated to show that she had committed suicide. It should be mentioned here that the accused persons are involved in running a newspaper.
