Published on:

Hearing on a PIL filed against Ayurvedic medicines tested on Covid patients by Patanjali, the Uttarakhand High Court has issued notices to the Central Government, Uttarakhand’s Ayurved and Unani director, Patanjali, ICMR, Uttarakhand Government and NIMS University, Rajasthan. The respondents have been directed to submit their replies in a week by the division bench of chief justice Ramesh Ranganathan and justice RC Khulbe.

The PIL filed by advocate Mani Kumar states that Swami Ramdev and his aide Acharya Balkrishna recently launched Coronil medicine made by their Divya Pharmacy for treatment of Covid-19 patients.

The petitioner has contended that the company did not follow ICMR guidelines, did not seek permission from AYUSH ministry and did not apply to the AYUSH department in Uttarakhand for manufacturing the medicine.

The application made to the department was for an immunity booster. The petitioner has contended that contrary to the company’s claim, NIMS University in Rajasthan has stated that it did not conduct clinical trials of a medicine for treating Covid.
