HC extends stay on B warrant against Sharma

The Uttarakhand High Court has extended by three weeks, the stay it had earlier ordered on the B warrant against television news channel chief executive officer Umesh Sharma. The single bench of justice Lok Pal Singh extended the stay on Tuesday. During hearing of the case the investigation officer also apologised to the court. The case is set for hearing next after three weeks.

On November 2, Dehradun resident Vinay Malik had lodged an FIR Sharma, Ashish Aron, Vikram and Jitendra alleging that they were trying to take possession of his plot of land. On the other hand, Sharma had averred that the said plot of land belonged to Aron. The court had also ruled in favour of Aron in 1999. While Aron had earlier secured a stay from the high court, the IO in Dehradun had secured a B warrant against Sharma from a court in Dehradun. Sharma had challenged the warrant in the high court and secured a stay on it first on November 27.
