The Health Minister of Uttarakhand, Surendra Singh Negi has claimed that there is no shortage of medicines in the Government health facilities of the State. The Minister made this claim while interacting with the media persons at State Secretariat on Wednesday. He said that the only anti-rabies vaccines are in short supply and all other medicines are present in sufficient quantity.
The minister’s claim assumes significance in the wake of shortage of medicines in the Government hospitals. Due to lack of budget, ban on local Purchase (lP) and new drug procurement policy the Government hospitals of the State are facing a church of many essential medicines, injections and vital Intra venous fluid like Glucose bottles.
The Minister however accepted that the problem of shortage of medicines is there in the Doon Medical College (formerly Doon Medical College) and attributed it to some confusion prevailing among the hospital authorities as the hospital has now been transferred to the Doon Medical College (DMC).
Negi said that the confusion is sorted out and the medicines would be available soon.
