The fourth day of the Vidhan Sabha saw a Congress MlA Harish Dhami, known as a hardcore Harish Rawat loyalist, venting rage on the leader of the opposition Indira Hridayesh with the ruling party MlAs relishing it.
Harish Dhami had given a notice on the fake citizenship issue, saying that the State Government was not taking action despite having received a note from the district administration, under section 58 of the rules. After it was rejected he vented his anger on the leader of the opposition, abusing her for not supporting his notice and holding her responsible for its subsequent rejection. Exasperated, he walked out of the House with the other Congress MlAs choosing to maintain a studied silence.
During the Zero Hour, the Congress MlA who is also the state Congress chief Preetam Singh raised the issue of the affected farmers who have lost their crops due to hailstorm. The treasury bench MlAs sought to counter it while presenting data of April. Singh said that it is strange that the state government is unaware of the plight of such farmers. “Sadly enough, the State Government has not bothered to collect the information of the affected farmers and their loss. This negates the government’s claim that it is sincerely trying to stop migration from the hills by introducing a compensation pattern for the hill-based people at par with those living in the plains,” he said.
Another Congress MlA Qazi Nizamuddin raised the issue of Haridwar facing severe traffic congestion during the Zero Hour. The minister Madan Kaushik assured the House that the Government is seriously addressing the issue and a permanent solution would soon be found out.
