Harish Rawat indulging in political gimmicks: Bhagat

The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Bansidhar Bhagat said that public awareness about the historic works undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been raised in the state through various programmes in the past one month.

Addressing the media in a virtual press conference on Wednesday, he also said that the former chief ministerHarish Rawat apologising for declaring the Ganga river as an escape channel in Har ki Paidi during his term in office is nothing more than a political gimmick.

Bhagat said that the BJP is preparing a digital book based on the social works undertaken by party workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Further, two virtual rallies were also held in the state addressed by Union Defence minister Rajnath Singh and Union minister for Women and Child Welfare minister Smriti Irani. About 20 lakh persons viewed these virtual rallies. Additionally, virtual conferences were held in all the 70 assembly constituencies with 21 lakh persons connecting to these.

Referring to the former CM Harish Rawat, Bhagat said that Rawat apologising for declaring the Ganga an escape channel at Har ki Paidi is political gimmick. He said that Rawat had hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindus to benefit a few people and is now apologising which will not dilute the error.  The ex-CM demanding that State Government correct the error of the previous government is also a gimmick because  government is already correcting mistakes made by  previous State Government.
