Former Haridwar Bar Association secretary Surendra Pal Singh Virk was allegedly murdered by his wife Richpal and sister-in-law Soni in Haridwar on Sunday. Virk’s wife has been found to be the main player in the case, according to police. During the investigation, police found that Virk’s wife Richpal and his sister-in-law Soni eliminated him because he was allegedly having an extra-marital affair.
“Richpal was under the impression that Virk might marry his lover and then disinherit them (wife and children). Worried, she hatched out a plan with the help of Soni on Saturday night to kill him. As Virk was asleep, the two women whacked him with cricket bat and stumps to death. later they removed a gold chain and ring from the body to make it look like a robbery case. The chain and ring were recovered from Soni’s home," the cops said. To mislead police, the accused lodged a complaint. But Richpal could not conceal her crime, said the cops. Till the filing of the report, police could not retrieve the bat and stump used for murder. It is understood that the weapons were later on dumped in a canal.
