Haridwar Police still groping in dark for 5-yr-old girl's killer

Published on:

Haridwar police have yet to make any headway in the murder of a five-year-old girl who was missing from her home since February 26. Police on Tuesday recovered head of the girl from a sugarcane field near her village.

Another case of a missing teen girl was reported in Manglaur police station on Wednesday. Taking cognisance of this, police have lodged an FIR. Statistics reveal violence against women and girls has been increasing in Haridwar for the last few months. The victim’s parents had reported her missing from home in Jourasi village in Roorkee on February 26. Police had registered a kidnapping case   on February 27.

Victim’s parents alleged that the police did nothing to trace their daughter as a result of which she was killed. Sources in the police department said that the incident might be the handiwork of tantrik who first kidnapped the girl, killed her and left her head in a sugarcane field to confuse the police. Haridwar SSP Sadanand Shankar Rao said that several teams have been formed and deployed at various places  to solve this case.

Critics opined that Haridwar police is yet to solve the case of a 12-year-old girl being raped and murdered in a sugarcane field, near Bhatta Colony when she had gone to answer nature’s call on January 7. Failure to solve such cases in the last few months has raised a question mark on police efficiency.
