Haridwar must be made a smart city aside from the number one city of the State. Besides, every village of the district will be developed as the Govardhanpur. It must prove to be a role model for other villages. This is what the Member of Parliament and the former Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said while addressing a meeting held at Mela Control room of CCR tower in Haridwar on Thursday.

He further said the holy city must see comprehensive development. Side by side,   the problems the villagers face must be solved promptly, if possible, on the spot. He reviewed the financial aspects of the development project with focus on the funds sanctioned in the Financial Year 2013-14.

He stressed no slackness would be brooked as far as development is concerned.   He asked all the district officials to be sensitive over the people’s complaints and ensure that things are corrected at the earliest.  “However, my first priority is to make the Govardhanpur village free from ailment,” he said. He took stock of the pending projects in the aforesaid village.

CDO said that work is in progress under the MNREGA scheme for cleaning and beautifying ponds. He instructed the CMO to ensure cent percent vaccination in the village.
