The Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the much- awaited railway project linking Haridwar to Karnaprayag on the tracks would take around six years to be completed.   He said this to the media persons on Thursday while participating in religious congregation- Sadbhavna Sammelan- hosted by the saint-turned minister Satpal Maharaj in his ashram in Haridwar.

“Once the project is completed it would take a couple of hours for a pilgrim to reach Karnaprayag from Haridwar. As I am going to Delhi I would meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and would appeal to him to give it the status of a national project,” he said, adding that    all the preparations for the upcoming char dham yatra have been completed.

He further said that the all- weather roads, another ambitious project envisaged by the Centre, would prove a boon for the State once completed in terms of the massive rise in the footfalls of the pilgrims/tourists.

He said that the election had not just saddled BJP in power with a thumping mandate but had brought about a churning within the system, paving way for its overhauling in the coming days.
