Haridwar MP and ex-CM Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has appreciated the rail budget 2016-17 and said that the State has got importance in the budget. Haridwar-Dehradun double rail track has been approved; laksar-Haridwar double track approved and Haridwar has been attached with all religious places in this budget.
Even Congress can't imagine that Char Dham can be attached with other religious places so the budget is unique in itself. He challenged Chief Minister Harish Rawat that he produce 10 years of Congress-led UPA regime's work in railway and he woudl produce railway works of last two years. Union Government has taken care of women, children, old age and handicapped persons during journey. Women has been given reservation in all category and reserved the lower seat for old age. They made budget provision for Karnprayag-Badrinath, Dehradun-Uttarkashi char dham yatra connection survey. Modernisation of Haridwar railway station and Rs160 crore for Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line; Rs20 crore for kichcha-Khatima route and Rs110 crore for Tanakpur-Peelibhit-Bhojipura rail line. Rs34 crore for the survey of Ramnagar-Choukhutia route. They also made budget provision for Rishikesh-Dehradun, Dehradun-Kalsi, Haridwar-Rishikesh, Kotdwar-Najeebabad (double lane), Dehraudn-Purola, Kashipur-Dhampur, Karnprayag-Chamoli, Haridwar-Kotdwar, Ramnagar-dehradun and Dehradun-Uttarkashi.
