Two days left for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s February 10 campaign meeting in Haridwar, elaborate security arrangements have been made by the district administration and local police. Three- tier security would be maintained in the 'VVIP' gallery near the rally site on Rishikul Grounds. To enter the rally site, one would be required to cross through the security scanners installed at the site.
Radar would be installed for aerial view of the rally site and vigilance would be maintained from ground to air to ensure fool-proof security for the PM. Police in civilian clothes would also be observing various areas of the district. A multi-agency control room is also being established on the ground.
It would be a three-layer security with Special Protection Group manning the first one and intelligence agencies and civil police forming the second and the third circles. Before entering the ground, the people would have to pass through hand- held metal detectors and door frame metal detectors.
Very few selected people would be allowed to receive the Prime Minister at the helipad.
Three cranes would also be made available and kept in readiness for use to remove any unidentified vehicle found parked along the roads PM’s fleet will cross.
Speaking to The Pioneer, superintendent of police (City) Parmendra Dobhal said, “ One team of SPG has already reached Haridwar while the second will reach on February 9.”
