Haridwar district sports officer charged for molestation

The Haridwar police have registered a case against the district sports officer on Saturday following a complaint made by some female sports persons who have alleged misconduct on the part of the officer. The probe has been ordered against the district sports officer, it is learnt.

Some of the women players who practice at the sports stadium of Roshanabad have alleged that the district sports official had  misbehaved with them. Notably, the same stadium has produced women players of the caliber of Vandana Kataria.

However, the district sports officer Krishan Kumar rubbished the allegations, saying that he had done nothing more than asking the sports women to pay the fee. “I asked the sports women to submit the Government-fixed fee of `300 and this is what annoyed them. I, of course, asked them to make sure that payment reached on time.  But I did not tease them. I would  quit if the allegation leveled against me is  proved,” he  said.

The coach of the stadium Kavita Bhandari said, "The incident happened in front of everyone. I was present too. There was no such thing like harassment or teasing."
