Harak to file papers at Pauri today

The Congress candidate from Garhwal parliamentary constituency, Harak Singh Rawat will file his nomination at Pauri on Saturday. The Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president and Cabinet Minister Yashpal Arya, ex-CM Vijay Bahuguna and other party leaders are expected to be present at Pauri on the occasion.

At a meeting of party workers held at Congress Bhawan on Friday, party leaders said that the Congress has entered the poll fray fully prepared. They alleged that the BJP had repeatedly violated the Model Code of Conduct, adding that they would complain about this to the election commission. Congress State spokesman Dhirendra Pratap said that while filing his nomination on Thursday, BJP candidate from Haridwar parliamentary constituency and former CM Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ had violated the Model Code of Conduct by crossing the limit of people, flags, hoardings and vehicles during his filing of nomination.

He exhorted the party workers to beware of the moves made by the opposition. Stating that senior party leaders including Chief Minister Harish Rawat, PCC chief Yashpal Arya, ex CM Vijay Bahuguna and local MlA Sunderlal Manderwal will be present during Harak Singh Rawat’s filing of nomination, Pratap claimed that due to his strong hold on voters in the segment, the Congress candidate would win the election by a margin of two lakh votes.

It is worth mentioning here that considering the crowd that gathered at public meet addressed by BJP candidate from Garhwal and former Chief Minister Maj Gen (retd) BC Khanduri and BJP leader Satpal Maharaj after the former filed his nomination on Thursday, the Congress is working to ensure that a larger  crowd attends the programme to be held on Thursday during Harak Rawat’s nomination.
