To boost the State's tourism potential and to smoothen connectivity, the State Government is all set to set up more than half a dozen helipads in Nainital district to strengthen air transport facilities.
According to Nainital district administration officials, the helipads have been proposed at Ramgarh (near tea garden), Bhimtal's Annu village, Betalghat's Chaapar village, Dhari's Sunkiya village, Haldwani's Dewla Tall area and Ramnagar's Syalde village. The proposals have been sent to the State Government for constructing helipads in the aforesaid areas, further said the Nainital district administration officials.
Meanwhile, land identification process for constructing helipads at Okhalkanda and Garampani's Majhera village is on. Hopefully, things would be settled soon, they said. Notably, there is no proper air base equipped with all necessary modern facilities in Kumaon division except Pantnagar airport in Udham Singh Nagar with the Nainisaini airstrip in the border district Pithoragarh being still under construction.
