An inmate of Haldwnai sub-jail who escaped from Sushila Tiwari Hospital in the morning on Friday was rearrested by police from Machchhi Bazaar later on the same day. He was identified as Shamshad, 23, resident of Jaspur.
He was sent to jail in connection with his involvement in vehicle lifting case on July 10. He escaped from the hospital where he was brought for treatment. A combined team of Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar police conducted a manhunt for the fugitive.
Notably, he was taken to Sushila Tiwari Hospital after he complained of stomach ache. Sources said that he escaped, breaking his handcuffs in early morning after he found policemen on duty asleep.
