Now people of this region may also enjoy the Gujarat’s famous Dandiya dance here as Vision, a social organisation, is going to organise the traditional Dandiya dance of Gujarat at Haldwani on October 12.
Coinciding with the ongoing Navratra festival, the Dandiya Dance is nowadays being celebrated in many States across the country. So this is an attempt to integrate this traditional dance show with Uttrakhand’s culture, said J P Nagar, Director, Vision. Interestingly, Dandiya is a culture related to the worship of Goddess as is being celebrated during Navratras nowadays in many parts of the country. Therefore, Dandiya show can’t be restricted to Gujarat only. In other words, wherever such religious functions are held like worship of Goddess Durga, Dandiya Dance can also be held, said the organisers.
However, to bring a flavour of Gujarati Dandiya show, we have arranged a special dance troop from Gujarat, Nagar further said. Since the Dandiya Dance is being held here for the first time, therefore we have tried to involve local people in this show in maximum number, he added. Mayor of Haldwani Jogendra Singh Rautela, is expected to inaugurate the Dandiya progamme here on October 12, further informed the organisers.
