Prashant Kumar Aggarwal who was fighting election for councillor’s post from the ward-17 of the Municipal Corporation of Haldwani (MCH) here on Sunday demanded re-polling following missing of his name on the electronic voting machine (EVM).
In his complaint to the district election officer (DEO), Nainital, Aggarwal allegedly said that instead of mentioning his full name as Prashant Kumar Aggarwal on the EVM, his name has been written only as Prashant Kumar on the voting machine.
Thus incomplete name mentioned on the EVM has only created confusion among the voters. I had been campaigning for myself as Prashant Kumar Aggarwal during the election campaign. But error on part of the officials in writing my name in proper way, has caused a huge damage to my overall winning prospects. That is why I have now urged the DEO to declare this election illegal and to conduct re-election, he added.
In case no action is taken by the officials concerned, I will have no option but to move the court, he threatened.
However, as the officials concerned informed, there is a column in the nomination form in which whatever name the candidate suggests is written in the ballot paper also.
That is why it is a matter of investigation whether the complainant suggested his name as Prashant kumar Aggarwal or just as Prashant Kumar in the said column in the nomination form, they added.
