In her address she said that there are many misconceptions in the society about surrogacy. She said that almost 5 percent of total infertility cases in India can be treated by surrogacy- child birth by implanting the fertilized egg in the womb of surrogate mother-. She said that at present there are no Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) banks and Agencies which recruit surrogate mothers in Dehradun. While in Delhi which gets surrogacy patients from all over the country and also a sizeable number of international childless couples who have failed fertility treatment in their own country, there are many ART banks which assist the childless couple in finding women who offer their wombs.
