On the occasion of Mahanavmi on Monday, the Governor Baby Rani Maurya undertook Kanya Poojan at the Raj Bhawan and wished for the prosperity of the State. The Governor ceremoniously worshipped 51 girls invited to the Raj Bhawan and herself served food to them. Along with her family, Maurya worshipped the girls as per traditional rituals and also presented gifts to them.
Earlier, she also presented plants to girls from the Government school, Rajpur Road, to plant in the school premises. Greeting the people on the occasion, the Governor reiterated her commitment to education of the girl child and women empowerment. The importance accorded to woman power is comprehended on occasions like Durga Pooja, she said. However, one must commit oneself to respecting and worshipping Shakti on all days, not only on Navratri, added the Governor.
