To combat the prevalence of Tuberculosis (TB) an awareness campaign should be launched in the crowded places and rural areas, opined the Governor of Uttarakhand Dr KK Paul while launching the ‘66 TB Seal’ of TB Association of India at Raj Bhavan here on Friday. He suggested that an extensive survey of State should be undertaken to earmark the TB affected areas so that effective steps to curb the disease are taken. The Governor asked the health department officials to extend their activities in the remote areas and launch awareness drive among the masses about the disease. He purchased TB seals worth Rs30000 on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion the General Secretary of TB Association of Uttarakhand, Punam Kimothi said the association regularly organises many multipurpose camps in the remote areas of the state to create awareness about TB. She elaborately explained the activities of the association. The TB seals are attractive stamps which cost only Rs5 per seal. These seals are sold by the Association to collect money for its fight against the disease.
