In a function held at Max Super Specialty Hospital, Dehradun, Uttarakhand Governor Dr Aziz Qureshi inaugurated department of oncology at hospital on Tuesday. Cancer patients can undergo various radiation, medical and surgical therapies and treatments at the hospital under the guidance of Dr Rudranath Talukdar, consultant- medical oncology and Dr Akash N Gaind, consultant- surgical oncology.
The 15 bedded department has two operation theaters for cancer procedures. Speaking on occasion, Dr R Talukdar, consultant- medical oncology at Max Super Speciality Hospital said that rising cancer prevalence has been a cause of worry for all of us.
High incidences of oral, breast and cervical cancer have been reported in Uttarakhand, out of which oral cancer was the most common.
Dr Akash N Gaind, consultant- surgical oncology, said that cancer has been fast spreading its grip in Uttarakhand. Most of the cancer patients would approach doctors at a very critical stage which further complicates the treatment process.
Addressing the gathering, Gaurav Rekhi, General Manager- Operations at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun said that Max Super Speciality Hospital has gained a reputation for its international class facilities and expertise in each speciality of medical practice.
