President Pranab Mukherjee planted saplings of Belpatri (Aegle Marmelos) and Camphor (Cinnamomun camphora) in the lush green campus of Raj Bhawan before departing from here for New Delhi.
Earlier, the President was welcomed at Jollygrant airport this morning by Governor KK Paul and Chief Minister Harish Rawat. The President reached Raj Bhawan in the afternoon where he was welcomed by the Governor.
The Governor presented the president with a coffee table book “Beyond Belief” prepared by Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam and a set of bottled aromatic oils produced by Centre for Aromatic Plants (CAP). He thanked him for accepting the hospitality of Raj Bhawan.
The President had arrived in Uttarakhand this morning to have darshan of Sri Kedarnath but had to cancel this programme due to inclement weather.
