Uttarakhand Governor Dr.K.K.Paul said that education plays a decisive role in shaping the destiny of a nation.”Any country’s development and progress is determined by the quality of its human capital which , in turn, depends on the education made available,” said the governor in his address as the chief guest at the first convocation of Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University at Badshahi Thaul in Tehri.
He said that despite all odds , India was going through a period of accelerated growth and carving a place for itself in the dynamic global order .Addressing the students, he said , “ You all must remember that you are the future leaders of this cumulative success and heritage and your actions will shape the future of our country” . He said that in today’s era of technology the challenge before the youngsters was to use technology in an innovative manner for the betterment of all. “It is your educational background, the ideas and visions that you imbibe that will enable you to understand and apply these new technological advancements towards improving society,” he said .
He said that the students should explore the mechanisms created under the new schemes started by the Prime Minister to enhance the participation of youth in development efforts. “It will be a dream come true for this country when students think about becoming job creators rather than job seekers through Make in India and Start up India, ventures.” He said while they move towards a better future armed with knowledge and skills to excel their careers, the youngsters must remain rooted in core values of our culture. The Governor unveiled the main building at the Badshahi Thaul campus. He presented 14 students with gold medals, 11 with silver medals and gave medals and degrees to 13 students who stood first in various subjects and 13 who stood second. Mememtoes and degrees were given to six students for special achievements .
