Uttarakhand Governor Dr KK Paul said on Tuesday that a “Mobile Medical Team” needs to be constituted to provide primary health services to the people inhabiting in the far-flung areas of the hill State.
He said that this team should have gynecologists, pediatricians and other doctors who would be able to enhance peoples’ awareness about health and provide them with medicines and consultation when required.
Such arrangement would provide relief to the people living in remote areas for whom normal health services, medicines and consultation have remained out of bounds for long.
Addressing a gathering at AIIMS, Rishikesh to mark World Health Day, the Governor said that to ensure food safety and security, concerted efforts are needed among food producers, organisations and agencies involved at various levels with food security.
A constant research is needed on food and nutrition. He sounded concerned over the adverse effects being left by the increased use of pesticides and chemical fertilisers used in agriculture as well as adulteration in food.
Earlier, the Governor went around the wards at AIIMS and talked to the patients admitted there. Expressing satisfaction over the present state of things at AIIMS, he said that in near future, this institute would carve a niche for itself not just among the medical institutions of Uttarakhand but also of the entire country.
