Guru Poornima was celebrated with religious fervour across the holy city Haridwar on Sunday. Swami Ramdev took blessings from his scriptural mentor Acharya Pradyumna on Guru Poornima day and guided all the volunteers gathered in Patanjali Yog Peeth for the valedictory function of a three-day long international Yoga camp. Addressing the people who had come from across the world Ramdev said, “If the disciple unites with the consciousness on which his spiritual master delves in, then his life will be transformed and will lead the life in unison with his mentor.” He exhorted the participants to unite themselves “Mann, buddhi, vani aur vyavahar” (spirit, mind, speech and behaviour) with their mentors. He said that the identity of a person was revealed by the behaviour and thoughts. All the participants pledged with Swami Ramdev to dedicate their lives for the welfare of the society and the nation.
Speaking to the media persons on the occasion, Ramdev said that India is a country which follows the traditions of Gurus, Rishis and Munis. The power of the spiritual masters has always led this country forward and is continuing to do so. He opined that India was on the path to become a super power in the world and that China must come out of its childish pranks or else India must teach China a “lesson”.
In Shantikunj, head of Gayatri Parivar, Pranav Pandya said, “The Guru or spiritual master not only develops the life of an individual but also removes the incompleteness in the disciple’s life. The treasury of Sadguru is always filled with the knowledge; one must approach as a true disciple to gain completeness.” A month long tree plantation drive was also started with Guru Poornima in which lakhs of tree saplings shall be planted during the Shrawan month, said Pandya.
In all the ashrams and temples of the city, Guru Poornima was celebrated with followers making offerings to their mentors and seeking their blessings.
