The guest teachers of State are back on the path of agitation. On Tuesday, the association of guest teachers of Uttarakhand resumed its agitation at protest site near parade ground.
These teachers are demanding that the State Government should withdraw the Government Order (GO) of May 16 and issues a fresh GO which fulfils the demands of the association. On Tuesday, large number of agitated guest teachers assembled at the protest site and started a sit in. Addressing the protestors the President of the association of guest teachers, Vivek Yadav said that the guest teachers are now determined to continue their stir till all demands are accepted. He charged the state government for failing to honour its commitment. The Vice President of the association Harish Arya said that the guest teachers have served in the schools of the State for more than two years and with their hard work and dedication they have won the hearts of students and parents. He said that the improved board examination performance of students bears testimony to the hard work of guest teachers.
The guest teachers are of the view that the provision of 3-5 percent weightage for them in the GO is too meagre and not at all accepted.
On May 16 this year the state government released a GO for recruitment of 5500 teachers on contract.
