The decision of education department to appoint Bachelor of Education (BEd) qualified unemployed youths as guest faculty is aimed to fulfil immediate requirement of thousands of teachers in the Government schools of the State but it could also create problems to the State Government as these teachers would demand permanent appointments once their contract is over.
Precedent had it that all the contractual appointees make some sort of association and demand continuance of their jobs from the Government. The matter assumes significance as Public Service Commission has started the process of appointments of lecturers while Uttarakhand technical education council would soon appoint permanent lTs in the schools.
One of a retired principal said the State Government should make efforts to expedite the process of permanent appointments so that need of guest faculty does not arise.
