Green light for lakhwad, Vyasi hydel projects

Published on:

The path has been cleared for the construction of lakhwad (300 MW) and Vyasi (120 MW) hydro power projects. The clearance for the projects was received earlier and 30 per cent work had been completed. After a Supreme Court order, the Government of India had sought advice of law Department. According to experts, as clearance had been received earlier and over 30 per cent work completed, the two projects were not covered by the SC ban. Providing this information, Chief Secretary and Chairman of Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam, Subhash Kumar, said that clearance had been sought again because the projects had been transferred from Irrigation Department to the Nigam. Following the advice of the law Department, approval would be received soon. With this, work would begin again on 450 MWs of power projects.
