In view of the Chinese incursions on the northern border time to time, declaring Uttarkashi area of Uttarakhand as eco-sensitive zone by the Government of India, will only make this entire Himalayan zone more vulnerable from security point of view, said Tirath Singh Rawat, State BJP president during his Kumaon visit here on Thursday.
The matter of concern is that this entire area of Uttarakahsi was once described as ‘Red valley” after the 1962 Chinese intrusions in this area. The Government of India has now declared this entire area as eco-sensitive zone. That means no development would take place in this area, he added.
But we would strongly oppose such acts of the Central Government. After the civic elections the party would definitely raise this issue as it is connected to the people of this entire region, Rawat further said, criticising the Congress-led State Government for not taking up the concerns of the people of Uttarakashi and adjacent areas with the Central Government before declaring this entire area as eco- sensitive zone.
Meanwhile, expressing hope that the BJP would do well in the upcoming civic elections in the State, the State president of the BJP further said that there is a wave for BJP in the State as the people are totally fed up with this Congress-led State Government.
Whether it is the issue of law and order or other social or development issues, this State Government has badly failed on all fronts. There is no development at all. Even many development projects which were initiated in the BJP regime, still remain uncompleted, he alleged.
Instead of focusing on the development, this Government seems to be busy in conducting foreign visits. The fact is that the SIDCUl was set up with a view to help the unemployed youths get job opportunities.
But this Congress led State Government is indulged in auctioning the land in SIDCUl to builders, Tirath alleged.
More so, this Government has nothing in store for the people of the hill State. It has no policy at all to address the concern of the common people. It is concerned only about how to protect its own interests, he alleged.
At the same time, the State BJP president has asked his party MlAs to seriously take the upcoming civic elections. All the MlAs have been asked to concentrate in their respective areas to secure party success in these civic elections, he added.
