Govt's claim to improve schools' condition a farce?

Published on:

The Government's claim of improving the basic facilities in the Government schools under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan seem to ring hollow considering the fact that the students of Government inter-college at Bagasudhar in Chamba block of Tehri district are still forced to study in the open due to the damaged condition of their school building which has not been repaired for decades now.

The condition of this school building is such that the students fearing for their lives have refused to enter the building for fear of the roof collapsing at any given moment.

The school that was built around 40 years ago is still awaiting repair works and the demands for repairs by the villagers have fallen on deaf ears. local villagers Buddhi Singh Pundir, Beena Gusain, Rekha Pundir informed that they have informed the Education Department and local administration repeatedly about the dilapidated condition of the school building but the authorities have failed to take any action in this direction so far. When this correspondent asked the Chamba Block Education Officer, Upendra Pandit about this issue, he said that a proposal had been sent to the government regarding the repair work on the school building.
