The 24 unstable zones studied by GSI in Uttarakhand include the Rudraprayag-Kedarnath road, Haridwar-Badrinath-Mana road, Rudraprayag-Kedarnath road, Karnaprayag-Gwaldam road Joshimath-Malari road, Almora Jalikhan-Jiakhan road, Bareilly-Almora road, Naina Peak, Almora-Pithoragarh road, Bhagirathi valley and the Dharchula-Tawaghat road. So far the State authorities have not been able to achieve concrete improvement in most of these unstable zones citing varied factors apart from paucity of funds.
