In a warning to the doctors who are engaging in intense lobbying to prevent them from getting transferred, the State health minister Surendra Singh Negi said that the Government would not come under any pressure and transfers would be transparent.
The health minister while interacting with The Pioneer also added that transfers of doctors would be done before the end of this month. When asked about the pressure tactics which many doctors are employing these days to either to get postings in desired places or to prevent their possible transfer to the mountainous areas, Negi said that such tactics would have no effect on the department.
He informed that the doctors who are transferred would have no choice but to join their duties at the place where they are sent. Health minister said that efforts would be made to provide doctors in the mountainous areas of the State in the proposed transfers.
The Medical health and family welfare department of State is working on the tough task of transfer of doctors for more than two months.
Soon after assuming charge the newly appointed Director General (DG) health service DR R P Bhatt sought details of the doctors who are posted for more than ten years in the hospital located in the plain areas. It is learnt that the DG got infuriated when district health offices failed to provide the lists of the doctors within stipulated time frame. The transfer of the doctors was earlier scheduled to be completed by 15 June.
It is worth mentioning here that the Government is trying to implement some sort of transfer’s policy in the department where doctors with resources always managed to get postings in hospitals of their choices. Ironically the transfers in the past have always resulted in further depletion in the number of doctors deployed in hospitals located in mountainous areas as those transferred in these hospitals managed to revert the orders.
