Sharpening its arsenal, leader of Opposition Ajay Bhatt alleged that the State Government was eager to give Fl-2 wholesale to a particular person. He asked the State Government to share with them how the State would be benefited through providing Fl-2 trade monopoly to a single person. It seems, caught on the wrong side of the matter, the State Government was rolling out false statements to confound the people.
Now they are saying they would implement Fl-2 to break the back of the syndicate, he said. Bhatt further said when Utttarakhand came up as a State liquor trade was under the control of the syndicate. So powerful were they that they did not hesitate to bump off people who dared challenge them. Sitting up with things worsening, the erstwhile Government decided to enforce new excise policy and 40-50 companies opened their godowns to sell their products.
Now again, the Government is intent on reviving the monopoly. During the time when monopoly marked liquor trade one company used to put the same liquor in different bottles and sold them at varying prices. Then the people were left with no other option but to buy liquor from those running the monopoly. This not just dented into the state exchequer but left people down with diseases.
He further alleged that the ruling party was exhorting the party workers to counter the Opposition allegation on Fl-2 trade. Investigation revealed that they were going to give Fl-2 to three persons who do not own liquor company. Now, to shield those the Government was out to promote and to keep its image unblemished by what they are doing they are circulating fake documents among the media persons. If they succeed it would spawn another scam at the expense of the state's interests, the BJP leader said.
He reiterated that his party would consistently fight against the Government playing with the health of the people and that of the State. Bhatt said the CM who is having portfolio of excise, must answer the questions being raised by them. The Government seems to have a single agenda-to rebut everything positive the BJP government in the past had done like lokayukta Act, Transfer Act, Atal Khadyaann Act and Deen Dayal Awas Yojna.
They are scrapping them, one after another. The BJP government had firmed up the new excise policy as a part of which the companies had to open godowns in each district of the state. The present one is bent on reversing things to revert to the old monopoly system, he said.
