State BJP president Teerath Singh Rawat has demanded that State Chief Minister Harish Rawat should resign from his post on moral ground because the people have rejected the Congress-led state government by defeating the party 5-0 in the recently concluded general elections.

Rawat said that the Congress-led Government has failed to provide succour to the disaster victims even after 11 months of the calamity. Instead of providing relief to them, the State Government has siphoned off Rs 6,040 cr, which was given by the Union Government. Th e BJP president has demanded that the State Government should release a white paper to explain about the use of the fund.

He further alleged that to rescue their Government, Chief Minister Harish Rawat is distributing portfolios among their MlAs on the expense of public money. Meanwhile, they have anointed their 20 MlAs with cabinet minister status. For instance, they have incorporated seven MlAs into their cabinet, 13 MlAs were made Parliamentary secretaries and given them the status of cabinet minister. For 5-0 victory in the state, Rawat said that its credit goes to party workers, who managed to apprise the public about the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s policy to everyone’s door. Even he praised the media for their unstinted support to the party.

Elated State president Rawat said that it was the first time after 1984 such a wave was witnessed. For this every citizen of this country deserves a round of applause because they voted by ignoring caste, region and religion. Rawat categorically said that Harish Rawat-led State Government has no moral ground to remain as Chief Minister of the State because people have rejected the Congress-led State Government by defeating the party candidates in all the five seats. He also made it clear that his party would not try to topple the Government as it will fall on its own.
