The State Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik said that the State Government is in favour of providing 33 percent reservation for women. He said this while addressing a programme organised by the BJP’s women wing to observe the birth centenary of Deendayal Upadhaya in Pauri on Thursday.
“We would host several programmes across the State to sensitise the women about the schemes launched by the Central and the State Governments to empower the women,” he said. He further said that the Government would do everything to get forest department’s clearance for the land earmarked for housing trenching ground for Pauri town, adding that the responsibility of garbage disposal, door to door collection of waste products and ODF works would be vested in the District Magistrates. “We would involve self- help groups for preparing and distributing prasads for the char dhams,” the Minister said.
While in Pauri, the Minister made a sudden inspection of Pauri Nagar Palika Parishad and found the executive officer and the driver absent. The Minister was annoyed when the Palika president told him that the executive officer had been absent for the past two days despite his being in Pauri. He warned of stern action if such absenteeism recurred.
