State Forest Minister Dinesh Aggarwal, flagging off an environment awareness rally in Almora on the occasion of World Environment Day on Thursday, called upon the citizens to join hands for conservation of environment, forests and wildlife.
At the same time, the Minister for Forest also chose this occasion to announce that the Government would soon open eco-tourism circles in different tourist destinations in Almora.
The Government is going to take necessary steps in this regard within next two months. He also directed the officials concerned the district administration and forest division, Almora to work for timely execution of this eco-tourism plan.
Important tourist spots like Winsar wildlife sanctuary, Simtola ecopark, Jageshwar, Harbal Park, to name a few will be integrated with the ecotourism circles, informed the Minister for Forest.
“Thus developing ecotourism circles will not only help us promote tourism activities but also protect our wildlife and biodiversity in the region,” Minister Aggarwal expressed hope.
“More importantly, integrating eco-tourism circles with the important tourist destinations will also go a long way in creating job opportunities for the youths in the tourism sector,” he further said.
“Therefore, we appeal to the people to contribute to the preservation and conservation of flora and fauna. Only then we may have a clean environment,” he added.
“The fact of the matter is that changing atmospheric conditions are a challenge. Accepting that challenge, we must work for the protection of environment and we have to collectively move forward taking cooperation from all sections of the society in this direction,” the Minister further said.
