Govt to ensure children are free from ill effects of helminthic worms

Published on:

The National Deworming Day is organised every year in the month of February, the current exercise is part of the Union Government’s drive to capitalise on the earlier drive and ensure that the children are free from the ill effects of helminthic worms. However the major challenge for the health department is to make sure that all children actually pop up the medicine. It is an open fact that fearing adverse drug reaction many teachers refrain from administering this tablet to the children. The DG health, Dr Rawat said that the district level officers have been asked to keep a micro- level eye on the distribution and administration of the tablet to the children.

He said that as a precautionary measure, the drug would not be given to sick children.  A data of such children would be made and the drug would be given to them when they become fit. To meet the cases of reaction of drug the health department has kept its system on state of alert and the Chief Medical Officers have been asked to coordinate with the media to prevent rumours and confusing reports.
