Govt to challenge single bench's order

Published on:

The State Government will approach the double bench of the High Court against the decision of the High Court’s single bench regarding the delimitation of UlBs. Cabinet Minister and State Government spokesman Madan Kaushik said this while talking to media persons here following the judgement. Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Pritam Singh has welcomed the high court decision. He said that the high court order cancelling the delimitation of UlBs validates the opposition of the Congress to expansion of the UlBs. He said, “The State Government adopted a stubborn attitude, went against public sentiment and despite the opposition of elected Panchayat representatives and made a mockery of transparency to impose delimitation to expand area under UlBs. This was undemocratic which is why the Congress had opposed the decision of the State Government. As part of the well planned conspiracy, the State Government acted in contempt of the constitution and appointed administrators in UlBs. The Government was attempting to delay the local body elections,” averred the PCC chief.
