In order to reduce excessive patient load on the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital, the State health and family welfare department is planning to strengthen some Community Health Centres (CHC) in and around Dehradun. Under the plan the hospitals of Doiwala, Raipur, Mussoorie, Premnagar, and Vikanagar would be developed as satellite hospitals. In these hospitals specialist doctors of all disciplines would be posted and other infrastructure facilities would be provided.
The secretary medical health and family welfare, Nitesh Jha said that apart from developing these hospitals, the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (Coronation) hospital would be converted in to the district hospital.
The move is expected to ease huge patient load on the GDMC hospital where more than 3500 patients visit different OPDs of the hospital every day. It is pertinent to mention here that the National Programme Coordination Committee (NPCC) of National Health Mission (NHM) recently had approved the proposal to set up a 100 bed hospital in the Coronation hospital so that it could be developed as District Hospital. Informing about another plan of the department ‘quote your salary’ which is aimed to increase number of anaesthetists, paediatrician and gynaecologists in the state health services, Jha informed that the special scheme, would soon be launched.
Under the scheme, the doctors having specializations would be appointed on contractual basis on the salary quoted by them.
The department intends to provide services of gynaecologist, anaesthetist and paediatrician in maximum number of Community Health Centres (CHC). Jha added that the State would enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Union Government under ambitious’ Aayushman Bharat Yojana’ at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh (HP) on May 14. Under the scheme, the residents of the State can avail the benefit of comprehensive health insurance plan of Rs 5 lakh per year in any Government or private hospital of the country.
