Dozens of Government employees under the banner of Uttarakhand Ministerial Collectorate Employees Union boycotted their work and protested at Dehradun Collectorate and other district headquarters across the State in support of their demands on Monday.
The protesters warned that they will go on indefinite strike across the State if their demands are not met by December 8. Visitors who reached collectorate for various works like issuance of certificates and other related works faced inconvenience and went back empty handed. In stead of sitting at their desks, the employees reached protest site within collectorate and shouted anti Government slogans in support of their demands.
District officials were seen advising the visitors to visit collectorate after few days due to ongoing strike of the collectorate employees. The association member Rajendra Kumar said that despite written assurances regarding redressal of their pending demands released by the State Government in December 2011, the State Government has not released the sought GO so far. The demands include reserving ten percent seats of Nayab Tehsildar for ministerial employees, reformation of Collectorate, increasing grade pay of chief administrative officer and other demands.
