The Government should remove the anomalies in proposed pay structure of armed forces personnel before the implementation of VII pay commission, said lieutenant General G S Negi (Rtd), while addressing a meeting of ex servicemen at office of Uttarakhand Ex Services league here on Tuesday. He said that the ex- servicemen would try to meet the President Pranab Mukerjee during his forthcoming visit in the state capital. The President is on three day visit of Dehradun fromSeptember 27.
The three service Chiefs have recently raised objections on the proposals of pay commission and requested the defence Minister to remove these anomalies. Explaining these shortcomings, the President of UESl, Brigadier R S Rawat (Rtd) said that in the pay commission notification has not added the Military Service Pay (MSP) while deciding the entry level pay of the armed forces personnel.
He said that they are unhappy that the commission has equated the armed forces with those of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Rawat further said that the armed forces are denied the benefit of Non Functional Upgradation (NFU) which is most unfortunate since the structure of the armed forces is highly pyramidical which ensures stagnation and early retirement of large majority of personnel. He said that the MSP should be increased from its present level.
Brigadier Vijay Kumar (Rtd) said that three service chiefs have taken an appreciable stand on removal of anomalies of VII pay commission and a section of media was wrong in declaring that they have accepted the recommendations and the armed forces would receive the revised salaries from next month.
Brigadier K G Behl (Rtd) said that the ex servicemen would meet the governor of Uttarakhand and hand him a memorandum mentioning the anomalies and request him to provide a time slot to the veterans so that they could present their case before President during his visit. The meeting was attended by large number of armed forces veterans.
