As the education department completes the formalities of appointments of 2,794 new primary teachers in the Government schools especialy those schools which are located in the remote and mountainous areas are slated to get new teachers.

However, the presence of many serving teachers in the merit list can upset the department’s plan as most of these them are posted in an inaccessible areas and if they succeed in getting job in the present drive many schools would again be deprived of teachers. The department has selected these candidates after counseling of candidates for the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)/ Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed special recruitment drive.  The Primary Education director R K Kunwar said that these teachers would be posted in the schools located in the inaccessible areas.

He said that the selection process is completed by the district education officers (DEOs). The selected candidates would now be allotted blocks and the respective Block Education Officers (BEO) would allot them the schools located in their areas.

As per the rule, the BEOs would allot the schools of inaccessible areas to these candidates, the women candidates however would be given some relaxation and would be allotted the schools which have some advantages than their male counterparts. On question of many serving teachers appearing in this recruitment drive also Kunwar said that the candidates who have not obtained the No Objection Certificate (NOC) would be debarred from the process.

Meanwhile the candidates who have not figured in the merit list have demanded that the department should take out a revised list of candidates. These candidates alleged that many serving teachers have also applied in the drive and are planning to obtain the NOC in back date.

The President of B.Ed./ TET Unemployed Federation Baldev Singh Bhandari said that many candidates listed in the merit list have not appeared in the counseling process and the department should now invite other candidates in their places. He also said that the Chief Minister Harish Rawat had assured them to add more posts in this recruitment drive.

“We want to remind the CM about his promise and want that he should fulfill this by increasing the posts in the present process of recruitment” he said.Out of total 2,794 teachers, 1410 candidates would be deployed in Garhwal division while 1,384 candidates are selected for appointment in Kumaon division. The department has used the criteria of year wise seniority of qualifying examination (B.Ed.) for selection of these candidates.
