The Uttarakhand Government has proposed to conduct the Panchayat elections in three stages on June 18, June 21 and June 24. The government proposed these dates in Supreme Court on Wednesday while presenting its case on the issue.
The Government told the court that its notification for these elections would be released on May 26; the State Election Commission would notify the elections on May 27 while the district Magistrates would issue notifications in their respective districts on May 28.On a petition of a village society the Supreme Court had stayed the Panchayat elections and asked the State government to put forward its reply as to when it indents to conduct the three tier Panchayat polls in the State.
