Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay said that the State Government has managed the Ardh Kumbh Mela commendably with its own resources in the absence of funds from the Central Government. Addressing the media here on Friday, he informed that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi are also expected to visit during an 11-day Congress Seva Dal training camp to be organised in the near future.

The PCC chief also said that Congress office bearers have started efforts for strengthening of the party’s ancillary organisations, departments and cells. Stating that the party has started preparations in order to secure majority in the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections, Upadhyay also came up with a road-map for this purpose. Commending the Ardh Kumbh arrangements made by the State Government using its own resources, the PCC chief also thanked chief minister Harish Rawat for this.
