The State Cabinet’s decision to give clearance for 10 thousand appointments in the education department has failed to placate the agitating unions of B.Ed/ TET, Shiksha Mitras, Shiksha Acharyas and physical education trained unemployed graduates. These unions have made it clear that they will continue their stir till the education department comes out with clear Government order.
The State cabinet on Saturday has given its nod for filling vacant posts in the education department with the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Teacher’s Eligibility Test (TET) qualified youths, Diploma in Physical Education (D. P.Ed) and Bachelor of Physical Education (B. P. Ed) graduates, Shikha Mitras and Shiksha Acharyas and Yoga education trained unemployed candidates.
The State secretary of the B.Ed. and TET qualified Unemployed Federation Amit Kashyap told The Pioneer that the State Government is planning to adjust some unqualified people (Shiksha Mitras and other non TET qualified candidates) in the teaching jobs.
He said that 5000 revived posts of primary teachers should be filled solely by the B.Ed. and TET qualified candidates and any attempt by the State Government to give jobs to unqualified candidates would be opposed tooth and nail by thirty thousand B.Ed. and TET qualified youths of the State. These thirty thousand youths are anxious as after March 31 they would become ineligible for teaching in the primary schools.
The State President of Shiksha Mitra Mahasangh lalit Diwedi told The Pioneer that the Government’s intention is not clear; he questioned that when the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has given its clearance for adjusting 3652 Shiksha Mitras in the primary teacher cadre then why the Government is delaying in adjusting the Shiksha Mitras as primary teachers.
The State president of D. P.Ed./ B.P.Ed. trained unemployed federation Sundar Dhoni also said that the cabinet decision is not clear and they would continue their agitation and Dharna – it entered 164 day on Sunday- till the Government orders for creating post of physical education teacher in primary schools.
